Digital voice recorders are used by paranormal researchers to capture various types of audio evidence during investigations. First, audible voice phenomena (AVP) are unexplained sounds that are audible to the paranormal investigator during the recording process. Second, electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are unexplained sounds that are inaudible to the researcher during the recording process, but they are captured by sensitive digital recorders using sound frequencies and power levels outside the human range of hearing. Third, digital voice recorders are also useful for documenting the research process and recording witness interviews.

Theoretically when a spirit/ghost manifests, it gives off an electromagnetic field, which may be picked up by an EMF meter. When a spirit/ghost manifests, it needs energy to do so. In an area where there is a high EMF field, the spirit/ghost may draw in that high EMF and manifest. The range from the meter to the active field is 0 to 8 feet, depending on how strong the electromagnetic field is. Normal readings are from 0mg to 1.5mg.

Day/Night DVR surveillance systems are used to record different areas of investigation simultaneously. Our current system utilizes four wired IR cameras that allow us to record areas that are of interest in low light settings. This unit is equipt with motion sensing technology and will alert us if motion is detected in the camera view. This unit does not , however, record sound. The DVR recordings are later analyzed to determine if anything out of the ordinary was picked up visually.

For areas where placing a DVR camera is not an option, or to record the area that the team is currently investigating, we use Sony Nightshot Handycams. These camcorders are designed to see in low/no light areas with the use of IR technology.  We will usually pair them with IR booster lights to aid in the field of view.  These camcorders also aid in debunking evidence, as we usually have one running during every audio session we record on our digital voice recorders, so we are able to compare the camcorder audio with the audio from other sources throughout and after the investigation.

Designed by Gary Galka of DAS, with Spiritual guidance and influence from Chris Fleming, the Model P-SB7 Spirit Box® is the first production built Spirit Box designed exclusively for Paranormal enthusiasts. When used by a properly trained individual, under certain circumstances, the P-SB7 Spirit Box® will provide results similar that of an EVP recorder, but in real time. The P-SB7 Spirit Box® utilizes a milli-second adjustable Forward or Reverse frequency "sweep" technique coupled with a proprietary high frequency synthetic noise or "white noise" distributed between frequency steps. The P-SB7 Spirit Box™ is intended to be used to help promote the field of Paranormal ITC Research. We use this device on almost every investigation as a means to attempt to communicate with paranormal entities in real time, and have had faily good results thus far.

In areas where reported sightings of apparitions, or claims of unexplained footsteps or movement sounds, occur we will place game cameras and motion detectors. The game camera is motion activated, and will record a snap shot of the view area when the motion is triggered.  The motion detectors will emit an audible alarm when the invisible beam created by the device is interrupted, notifying the team that movement in that area has been picked up.

The REM Pod uses an antenna to radiate its own independent magnetic field around the instrument. This EM field can be easily influenced by materials and objects that conduct electricity. Based on source proximity, strength and EM field distortion (4) colorful LED lights can be activated in any order or combination. The pictured REM pod was actually built by our Tech Manager, as we do our best to build our own equipment when possible.

This EM pump actually generates a large amout of Electromagnetic energy, that in theory, an entity could utilize to manifest or manipulate it's surroundings. As it is theorized that entities can "draw" energy from areas with high EMF readings, this device is usually placed in an area that the team is performing an active EVP session in hopes that it will aid the entity in it's ability to communicate with the team. This is another piece if equipment built by our Tech Manager.

The TAPSAPP is designed by Fuzzywhite Technology and Jason Hawes, author, real-life paranormal investigator and the founder of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). Jason and the team's main goal is to remove the cost factor that is associated with investigating the field of paranormal and to create a device that can be used by intermediate and advanced investigators. The app is being used by Jason and his team on current episodes of his top rated TV show. The app contains a functioning ElectroMagnetic Field (EMF) detector, a Geophone to sense the slightest vibrations, and a digital recorder for capturing Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). These instruments existing within the same device , allows data to be analyzed based on a shared timeline. We use this app on every investigation, usually on an Ipad, and have had some great results with the software!

The IR Thermometer detects surface temperatures in Fahrenheit or Celsius. The thermometer shoots out an infrared beam hitting a surface and relaying the temperature of the surface back to you. In theory when a spirit/ghost starts to manifest, it will draw in heat energy around the area, causing either a cold spot or a hot spot. A cold spot would form because the heat energy is being sucked out of the air, causing the air around the entity to be cold. A hot spot would form because the heat energy is being sucked out of the air and confined to a specific area, causing a hot spot. We also use this device to gain a base line temperature of things in a particular area.

The green laser is distributed through an optical glass lens which can be adjusted by turning it to scatter the beam into various patterns of light. By placing the green laser so it casts the user's preferred grid pattern of dots into the haunted environment, a video camera mounted on a tripod can be used to help monitor and record any movement within the laser grid pattern. This could prove extremely helpful in cases of haunting where moving shadows are reported. It would seem in theory that shadow figures, due to their dark appearance, may be better able to interfere with the laser grid pattern more so than other type of anomalies, though it is possible that apparitions and moving orbs might also be detectable. We can only speculate on how such a dark shadow might behave within a laser light pattern

We use multi channel walkie talkies mainly as a means of communication among team members who may not be in the same area of a location. But it has happened on occasion that we have experienced unexplainable voice phenomena over the band waves of the walkies. We, however, do not attempt to use the walkies as an actual paranormal communication device, due to the open channel contamination issue.

Boo Buddy is one of our latest additions to our equipment arsenal, here are a few features of this awesome trigger object!

  • Boo Buddy is an attractive, talking bear trigger object

  • Detects EMF energy and responds with lights in the paws

  • Detects motion, temperature and responds with a friendly voice

  • Baseline readings start when you turn the unit on (first 30 seconds)

  • Asks EVP questions on it's own when the environment is quiet
